Management Support Officer

Role Description

Scope

The Management Support Officer (MSO) is responsible for facilitating the smooth operation and administration of the State Operations Centre  (OpsCen) and providing management and administrative support to nominated roles within the OpsCen.

Fundamental Protocols underpin the actions of all RFS members and must be adhered to at all times. They outline the Principles of being an RFS member and provide guidance on conduct to support the safety and wellbeing of members.

Accountabilities

  • Liaise with the Director State Operations (DSO) or State Operations Controller (SOC)/ Deputy State Operations Controller (DSOC) to confirm rostering arrangements in line with the OMP 2.01 State Operations Coordination, Operational Readiness and Alert Status. Contact all personnel to confirm arrangements.
  • Ensure PRAS accurately reflects all rostered personnel.
  • Facilitate with ICT to ensure that all personnel have access to Incident Control online (ICON), and relevant Outlook/Microsoft Teams folders as required.
  • Monitor Teams folders to ensure that documentation relating to the SOC and State Intelligence Coordinator (SIC)  is appropriately captured in Teams or ICON.
  • Collate a draft of the State Operations Overview for review by the DSOC/SOC or State Duty Operations Officer (SDOO) by 1100 hours.
  • Confirm with Major Incident Logistics Support (MILS) as required, for the welfare, meals and accommodation for OpsCen staff.
  • Liaise with Building Services where required for the hours of the reception desk, cleaning services, and security to be extended.
  • Provide scribing assistance to key personnel when required. Capture discussions, events and decisions along with their rationale in the appropriate Operations Logbook.

Special Considerations

  • Where appropriate, coordinate and assist with processing section 44 (s44) administration.
