A 75-year-old Leeton man is in a serious but stable condition after the semi trailer he was driving collided with a tractor on Thursday evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene, 15 kilometres east of Parkes, on the Henry Parkes Way near Bindogundra Road at 7.45pm.
Both vehicles were travelling west when the driver of the truck, carrying frozen food, came around a left hand bend and was confronted by a tractor towing a hammer mill.
The truck driver swerved to avoid the tractor, which allegedly had no lights, but lost control when his trailer clipped the tractor and the vehicle rolled onto its side.
The collision caused the truck to do a 180 degree turn coming to rest facing east.
The truck driver was trapped for a short time before being released and airlifted to Westmead Hospital.
The 50-year-old male driver of the tractor was taken to Parkes Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
He was later released suffering only minor injuries.
Henry Parkes Way, between Military Road and Manildra, was closed overnight and traffic was diverted via Military Road, Eugowra Road and The Escort Way.
One lane was open at 7am on Friday with traffic control in place during the clean up.
Investigations are continuing.
