Bushfire danger starts today
Published Date: 30 Sep 2015
Summary
The bushfire danger period for the Mid Lachlan Valley starts today.
That means you require a permit to start any fire.
Mid Lachlan Valley Superintendent Ken Neville said it was also a time for property owners to ensure they had fire breaks around stock, infrastructure and haysheds.
“The potential is definitely there for a big fire season, depending on the weather - whether we get the forecast El Nino ,” he said.
“There is a lot of fuel out there.”
He said property owners should undertake hazard reduction such as slashing or ploughing firebreaks.
