Summary
A fire that started at the Parkes tip this afternoon was quickly contained by the tip operator and the Rural Fire Service.
The fire started shortly before 2pm in rubbish in the main refuse area.
The tip operator isolated the burning rubbish from the pile by pushing it away with a grader.
Two fire crews from the Rural Fire Service attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
