Summary
On the weekend of 12th - 14th December our colleagues from the SA Country Fire Service began training of an extension of their Yunta Brigade at Cockburn on the SA/NSW Border approx 45km W of Broken Hill.
Our Silverton Brigade has responded to numerous incidents into SA as they have been the closest fire service along with Broken Hill FRNSW depending upon the incident.
Looking to the not too distant future the CFS will be placing a fire appliance in Cockburn to allow the newly... trained volunteers to respond to fire emergencies along the Barrier Hwy into SA.
In the spirit of friendship and camaraderie on Sunday Silverton Captain Rodney Grenfell organised the Silverton Cat 1 and Cat 7 tankers to attend the training day to compare appliances and check compatibility with gear.
A couple of Silverton volunteers came along to meet with the new CFS volunteers. No doubt we will be working and training together in the future.
