National Awards for Far West Team

Summary

A very proud moment for the RFS at this years AFAC & Bushfire CRC Conference with two key awards being presented.

Inspector Robyn Favelle from our Far West Zone won the individual award for Innovation in recognition of social media utilization during recent fires in remote areas.

 

The RFS was also awarded the Excellence in Research Utilisation in recognition of technology adoption and development in areas such as fire modeling, fuel curing and smoke plume modeling and this was accepted by Dr Simon Heemstra. Congratulations and well deserved.

Enjoying dinner in Melbourne with Robyn and Chris from Far West Zone as well as Tony (Captain), Sally and Jenny from the Barrier Range Brigade that instigated the social media strategy acknowledged in tonight's award. Thanks gang for a lovely night.
