Brigades called to fire on Brown's Creek Road property

A grass fire on a property on Brown's Creek Road has been extinguished.

Caused by machinery the fire was helpfully contained by a fire break that was put in place by the owner of the property.

Rural Fire Service Canobolas Zone Operations Officer, Brett Bowden said that the risk of grass fires in the tablelands was very high due to the large amounts of grass available and low stocking levels after the drought.

EARLIER: Seven fire crews are either in place or enroute to a grass fire on Brown's Creek Road just west of Blayney.

Rural Fire Service Canobolas Zone Operations Officer, Brett Bowden said that there was initial concerns for a nearby structure.

"There was concerns about a property but the wind has moved the fire into a different direction and it's no longer under threat," he said.

"There is currently a few acres of grass alight but it's only 24 degrees and the wind is gusty, so we're not expecting this fire to become a problem.'Browns Creek Fire
