Bushfire season the hot topic at Clifton Grove Ophir Rural Fire Service open day

Alongside RFS mascot Kliffy and State Emergency Service (SES) mascot Paddy, volunteers from the Clifton Grove Ophir RFS and SES Orange City Unit will help Orange residents prepare for the bushfire season.
RFS publicity officer Alyce Selwood said it was a great opportunity for people to find out how to stay safe this summer.
"We would like to invite everyone to come down and visit us and have a chat to the brigade members in Clifton Grove Ophir Brigade about the current
bushfire season, preparing their Bushfire Survival Plans and getting advice on protecting their properties, families and pets this bushfire season," she said.
"We will be introducing our Brigade Mascot Kliffy the Koala, as well as having our Category 6 water tanker and our Category
1 and 7 fire trucks for people to have a look at."
The open day will be held at the Banjo Paterson Reserve on Ophir Road from 10am to 4pm, with a barbecue lunch, demonstrations of equipment and activities to keep children busy.
Thunderstorms in the central west on Monday
and Tuesday provided a timely reminder for people to also be aware of storm season.
"The SES Orange City Unit will be there to talk about storm season, preparing for storm season and what you will need to do to prepare emergency kits and an emergency plan," she said.
