Some local governments have decided to move the season forward because of drier than normal conditions.

However, Dubbo and surrounding regions have bucked the trend and Rural Fire Service Orana team leader Lyndon Wieland said there was no need to move the season forward.

"In Orana we won't move it forward because it is very green here," Superintendent Wieland said.

"It has actually been our best Autumn and Winter for a long, long time.

"Certainly we'll have a fire season but just how bad it will be will depend on how much rain we have and it is just too early to tell."
