Blue Mountain Update Monday 13th January 2020
Published Date: 13 Jan 2020
Summary
The continuing cooler weather has brought the good news that all five fires in the Blue Mountains – Erskine Creek, Linden Creek, St Helena, Grose Valley and Ruined Castle are under control.
Fire crews continue to work together in support of the NSWRFS with crews from local and out of area NSWRFS Brigades, National Park Wildfire Service and Fire Rescue New South Wales on the ground today actively monitoring and patrolling fires to prevent any re-ignition.
The work will continue for the next few weeks and you will see those same agencies out in support of the NSWRFS. You will also see aircraft continue to fly over the fire areas to support crews with aerial observation.
At Linden Ridge ground crews and aerial support are working on ensuring containment and at Kedumba Valley Fire the strategy is to consolidate containment lines while the conditions are favourable.
The St Helena Fire is well controlled and we hope for some good news on that front later today.
Residents may still see smoke from back burning operations however if you are concerned call 000 or the Bush Fire Information Line 1800 679 737.
